Configuring Dreamweaver for your website

First, create a folder on your zip or on your personal computer called "web".
Actually, you can call the folder anything you like, but avoid using the following symbols in your filename:
1.  spacebar - no space in the filename. It must be one word
2. No backslash - /
3. No forward-slash - \
4. No Astrix - *

Make sure the zip is in the drive before you open the DreamWeaver application.
Open your DreamWeaver application. On menubar, select "Site/New Site...

...fill in a site name - it can be anything - and click on the folder...

PC - direct the application to your "web" folder open it and click "Select"
Mac* - direct the application to your "web" folder select (don't open it) and click "Choose"
(* These Graphics are PC)

...On site definition, Fill in your domain name in the HTTP Address...

Under "Category", select sub-heading "Remote Info". From the "Access" box, choose "FTP"...

Here is the ftp information you must include - (insert your own domain name and password.)
Warning: only save the password if you are at home. If you leave it on a public computer, Joe Public can access and edit your site!
...Click "OK"

Hit the "F8" key and the Site box will appear. Click the Remote Host button, type in password (If necessary.)

If all goes well, your web files should appear in the left window (See below). If they do not, carefully review your input. Over half the problems I encounter are caused by faulty input.

Congratulations! You are now ready to begin editing your site using DreamWeaver. For further instruction, use the "Help" on the top of the menu. It's quite extensive.
